Communications Officer

Salary: circa £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented communications professional to join a highly effective and collaborative team committed to promoting world-class education, training and skills outcomes for all post-compulsory learners in Wales.

ColegauCymru is a post-compulsory education charity; we promote the public benefit of post compulsory education and learning.  We also convene the further education (FE) Principals’ Forum, which represents further education colleges and FE institutions (FEIs) in Wales.  ColegauCymru also undertakes research, policy development and provides practical support to FE colleges in Wales. 

We are looking for a calm and creative individual to lead on developing and delivering our communications and engagement strategy. This is a hands-on role, operating at pace, influencing key stakeholders through engaging content that broadens awareness of ColegauCymru’s purpose, activities and priorities, and promotes and represents our member colleges, through multiple media including digital and offline communications including press, PR and social media.

You will have a background in either public affairs or marketing and will ideally have an understanding of Post 16 Education policy within Wales. With excellent written English and Welsh language skills, you will be skilled in drafting and publishing concise informative content and telling stories which land with impact across a wide range of audiences using multiple media channels. With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust you will be confident nurturing relationships with key figures in the Welsh media. You will have excellent organisational skills and be confident working autonomously within agreed guidelines using a range of social media platforms and content management systems.
