This week, ColegauCymru is proud to celebrate #CollegesWeek2025, a UK wide campaign highlighting the vital role that further education colleges play in shaping lives, communities, and the economy.

The campaign focuses on a range of themes, demonstrating how colleges contribute to building a stronger, fairer, and greener future. From supporting economic growth and sustainability to fostering inclusive opportunities, colleges across Wales continue to make a lasting impact.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive, David Hagendyk, said,

"Colleges in Wales are at the heart of skills development, innovation, and community transformation. #CollegesWeek2025 is an opportunity to showcase the incredible work happening across the sector and the dedication of staff and learners alike."

Throughout the week, we’ll look at the different ways in which our FE colleges are making a difference.

Our colleges play a vital role in driving and supporting economic growth. By providing industry-relevant training, apprenticeships, and strong employer partnerships, colleges equip learners with the skills needed to succeed in the workforce, ensuring Wales remains competitive in a changing economy.

Further education plays a key role in sustainability, green skills and growth and is a key part of our journey to Net Zero, with colleges across Wales leading on green initiatives, renewable energy projects, and eco-friendly learning environments, preparing learners for the growing demand for green jobs.

Colleges contribute to safer, more inclusive communities through public services training with many learners progressing into careers in policing, social care, and youth work. As a gateway to opportunity, further education supports learners from all backgrounds through flexible learning routes, bilingual provision, and tailored support services, ensuring education remains accessible to all.

Additionally, FE colleges play a crucial role in strengthening Wales' healthcare workforce, training the next generation of healthcare professionals through specialised courses and hands-on placements, supporting the NHS and the future of healthcare provision.

Throughout the week, ColegauCymru will be sharing inspiring stories from across the sector, highlighting the achievements of learners, staff, and college initiatives. This #CollegesWeek2025, let's celebrate the power of FE and its positive impact on Wales. Together, we can continue to champion the vital role of colleges in transforming lives and shaping the future.
