As we continue to celebrate International Women's Day, ColegauCymru is delighted to highlight the achievements of Hannah Freckleton, the Student Union President at Coleg Sir Gâr.

Hannah balances her A-level studies with her leadership role, exemplifying dedication to both personal growth and community engagement.

In her role as Student Union President, Hannah has been instrumental in advocating for inclusivity and the celebration of diverse cultures. She emphasises the importance of uplifting and encouraging each other to create a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Hannah's leadership and advocacy have also contributed to the college's strategic planning. She presented feedback from the Student Union on the Strategic Plan, highlighting the significance of collaboration, community, and inclusivity. Her insights underscored the importance of strengthening the college community and promoting the use of the Welsh language.

Hannah says,

“As a female Student Union President,  I’m passionate about empowering other women to be a positive influence within the college community and beyond. Having the opportunity to lead has shown me that leadership has no limits. It has given me the confidence and realisation that being a woman is not a barrier.

“I feel it’s important that we celebrate the success of women and recognise them for their hard work and achievements. By uplifting and encouraging each other, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Hannah's academic excellence is further demonstrated by her recent achievement of winning an essay writing prize at Oxford University, a testament to her dedication and hard work.

Hannah's journey reflects the impact of embracing one's cultural heritage and the power of leadership in fostering an inclusive community. Her efforts resonate with the core values of ColegauCymru, inspiring others to lead with confidence and cultural pride.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate Hannah's contributions and encourage more women to step forward, lead, and inspire others.
