We are pleased to congratulate our Chief Executive Iestyn Davies on his recent appointment as Pro Vice-Chancellor at University of Wales Trinity St David.

In this new key role, Iestyn will be responsible for establishing a new integrated confederal system which brings together UWTSD, the University of Wales and Further Education Colleges.

ColegauCymru Chair Guy Lacey said,

“On behalf of our membership, I offer our sincere congratulations to Iestyn on this exciting new appointment. We are grateful for the seven years of service Iestyn has given, helping to shape a stronger further education sector for Wales, most notably in the context of the recent challenges brought about by the Covid19 Pandemic.”

Professor Medwin Hughes UWTSD Vice-Chancellor added,

“We’re delighted to welcome Iestyn on board. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise both from the further education sector in Wales, and other key leadership roles. He joins us at a very exciting time for the University, when we look to the future in our Bicentenary year, and as we plan to deepen our collaboration with the FE sector.”

Iestyn concluded,

“I have immensely enjoyed my tenure at the organisation and am proud to see how my colleagues and our member colleges have pulled together to navigate many challenges, not least in recent years. I feel that the time is right to pass the baton on.”

“As part of the new role, I will be providing strategic and operational leadership. One key aspect will be working with a network of FE colleges to provide access to higher level technical and vocational learning across Wales.”

Following detailed consultation with the Principals’ Forum, ColegauCymru will now commence a recruitment process to identify and put in place its next Chief Executive. The independent Board of Trustees hopes to announce more details on the process in the coming weeks.
