ColegauCymru is pleased to congratulate Owen Evans on his appointment as the new HM Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales.

Mr Evans will replace the current Chief Inspector Meilyr Rowlands, who will retire at the end of August 2021, and will take up the post from January 2022.

ColeguCymru Chief Executive Iestyn Davies said,

“ColegauCymru looks forward to working with Owen and the post-16 education team at Estyn, to continue the relationship that has been set on such a firm basis by Meilyr Rowlands.

“During his tenure, Estyn has engaged constructively and in partnership with further education colleges in developing an approach to inspection that reflects the diversity of the learning offered within colleges and apprenticeship programmes. Estyn will have an important role to play in the future of post compulsory education in bridging the gap between inspection and self-improvement, and the quality assurance systems associated with higher level provision.”
