ColegauCymru is delighted to celebrate with learners from across Wales as they receive their qualification results today.

ColegauCymru Chair Guy Lacey said,

“Congratulations to all learners as they receive their results following what has been a difficult two years. We also send our sincere thanks to our education colleagues, and parents and carers alike who have supported young people as they navigated this testing period.”

This year saw the first full timetable of examinations and assessments since the start of the Covid19 pandemic. Learners have faced an extremely challenging time with many having not experienced formal assessment or examination conditions previously. We are proudly celebrating their resilience whilst making sure they receive the support they need to continue their learning journey or to move into employment.

Examinations and assessments have been graded to reflect the challenges faced by this cohort, with national results higher than 2019 but lower than 2021. With more learners than ever applying for university places this year, this will allow a level playing field for Wales learners looking to move on to higher education.

We’re grateful to Welsh Government for funding of £24m for colleges, schools and local authorities which provided additional resource, helped to improve attendance and re-engaged learners. The additional support also allowed for stronger working between FE, schools and other partners to support individual learners, particularly those most at risk from disengagement, in developing transition plans.

Regardless of their outcomes today, learners remain the priority for FE colleges with advice and guidance services now on hand to assist them to take the next steps to a bright future.
