Colleagues from across the FE sector in Wales are pleased to have the opportunity to attend the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics/Colleges and Institutes Canada annual congress, in Montreal, Canada this month.

Global Wales is organising an outward delegation of Principals from colleges across Wales to attend the two-day event which will take place on 23-25 April and will bring together post-16 leaders from around the world in what will be the largest event of its kind.

The annual congress will provide a strong focus for a series of wrap-around activities aimed at raising the profile of the FE sector in Wales whilst facilitating opportunities for partnerships with FEIs and other relevant organisations in Canada and globally.

Membership of the WFCP spans 22 countries, including India, the US and Canada, all of which are priority markets for Global Wales. With over 1,500 international delegates expected to attend, this presents an excellent opportunity for FE Principals from Wales to engage with their international counterparts, develop new partnerships and share best practice.

ColegauCymru Director of Policy and Public Affairs Rachel Cable said,

“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to attend this important event and to network with and learn from FE colleagues from across the globe. The annual congress will also coincide with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ColegauCymru, Universities Wales, and Colleges and Institutes Canada, which is facilitated by the Global Wales programme and cements the mutual commitment to develop links and share dialogue on further and higher education cooperation between Wales and Canada.”

Partnership development is a priority for Global Wales and the opportunity to engage with such a wide range of international stakeholders and leaders on this scale is highly beneficial in initiating strategic partnerships in areas such as staff and student mobility, capacity building, transnational education, and profile raising. Collaborative partnerships can also help to increase international student recruitment, internationalise and enrich the curriculum and provide new markets for FE services and products.
