ColegauCymru is delighted to celebrate with learners from across Wales as they receive their qualification results today. The success of Welsh learners is a testament to their dedication and to the commitment of our educators.

ColegauCymru Chair Guy Lacey said,

“Congratulations to all learners as they receive AS/A level and vocational qualification results following a difficult three years. We also send our sincere thanks to our education colleagues, parents and carers alike, who have supported young people as they navigated this testing period.”

This year, the journey back to pre-pandemic qualification arrangements continues. Exams took place once again during May and June, and non-examination assessments were also completed in many subjects. A slightly different approach this summer has been implemented - national results for WJEC qualifications are broadly midway between the results awarded in 2019 (the last year before the pandemic) and 2022 (the first year that learners sat exams as we emerged from the pandemic).

In another year filled with challenges and uncertainties, none more so than the impact of the increased cost of living, learners have demonstrated their resilience and determination and we commend their efforts along with those of lecturers and college staff, who have collaborated to create an environment conducive to enabling success.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive David Hagendyk added,

“We’re proudly celebrating the resilience of learners as they emerge from a challenging period, whilst making sure they receive the support they need to progress in their learning journey or to move into employment.

Covid has left a long legacy and it is important that we continue to support learners with the impact the pandemic had on their education and their health and wellbeing.

Regardless of outcomes today, learners remain the priority for our FE colleges with advice and guidance services now on hand to assist them to take their next steps to a bright future.”
