Greater consideration needs to be given to the impact of the proposals for new GCSEs on the post-16 sector and learners' ability to progress to further study, employment or self-employment. The impact of the proposals on resitting Maths, Welsh or English GCSE in particular does not seem to have been given the necessary consideration. Reform of the GCSE system has far reaching implications.
