ColegauCymru is pleased to share details of the Global Wales partnership funding, aimed at fostering international collaborations between Welsh colleges and universities in designated priority regions.

The initiative offers Welsh institutions the chance to secure up to £5,000 per project with projects intended to establish sustainable and long-term international partnerships through short-term, results-driven collaborations.

ColegauCymru International Project Manager, Siân Holleran, said,

“This initiative represents a significant opportunity for Welsh colleges to enhance their global engagement and foster impactful, international collaborations.

We’re encouraging FE colleges from across Wales to take advantage of this opportunity to build and strengthen their international partnerships, contributing to the global learning community and enhancing educational outcomes.”

Eligible projects might focus on capacity building, joint teaching initiatives, or organising workshops, symposia, and other relevant events. The priority regions for these international partnerships include:

  • The USA
  • Canada
  • Vietnam
  • Karnataka, India
  • Telangana, India

Institutions can apply for funding by submitting detailed proposals that include specific objectives, activities, and expected outcomes beyond just establishing initial connections. Applications are encouraged to align with key areas of interest such as digital transformation, green energy and decarbonisation, agri-tech, creative industries, population health, and materials and manufacturing, among others. However, projects outside these priority areas are also welcome.

The application process is open until 14 July 2024, with projects expected to be implemented between August and December 2024.
