ColegauCymru calls on the Committee to undertake an early inquiry into ‘greening skills and the economy’. This should consider green industries as well as the skills needed to make existing jobs and industries greener, and the issue of demand stimulation from employers. Following the Future Generations Commissioner’s work, the inquiry should also explore how to diversify the green workforce.
Over the longer term, the Committee could investigate how to successfully encourage more children and young people to think about careers in environmental and green industries and make these areas more appealing options.
