ColegauCymru was pleased to represent the further education and post-16 sector in Wales at the UK Covid-19 Inquiry Post-16 Education Roundtable on 16 March 2022.

The pre-commencement phase meeting highlighted the detrimental impact of the pandemic on learners and the importance and value of diversity of education and set out key areas for the enquiry to consider.

This was a helpful initial meeting where key education stakeholders came together to agree the focus of the Inquiry, which will be chaired by The Right Honourable Baroness Heather Hallett DBE.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive Iestyn Davies said,

“We are committed to supporting our members to provide information to this Inquiry to ensure that the voice of the further education sector in Wales is heard. It’s vital that we learn from past events whilst planning appropriately for possible future scenarios. As always, the health and safety of our learners and staff remains our priority.”

ColegauCymru will engage with our members to provide appropriate response and contribution to the Inquiry in the coming months.
