Welsh Colleges Shine at AoC Sport National Championships 2025
Further education learners from across Wales were proud to represent their colleges at this year’s AoC Sport National Championships, held at the University of Nottingham from 4 - 6 April 2025.
Bringing together around 1,500 learners from across England and Wales, the Championships are the largest annual FE student sporting event in Europe and a true celebration of college sport. Now in its 45th year, the competition offers a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents, build confidence, and create unforgettable experiences through sport.
This year, six Welsh colleges qualified following regional tournaments held throughout the academic year. Representing Wales were:
- Cardiff and Vale College - Men's Basketball, Women’s Football, Pan Disability Football
- NPTC Group of Colleges - Men's Endurance Race
- Grŵp Llandrillo Menai - Men's Endurance Race
- Coleg Gwent - Women's Endurance Race
- Coleg y Cymoedd - Netball
- Gower College Swansea - Men's Football
- St David’s Sixth Form College - Men’s Endurance Race
Among the standout performances, Cardiff and Vale College’s Men’s Basketball Team retained their national title, winning for the second consecutive year. A huge congratulations to the team and staff for representing Wales so successfully on the national stage once again.
Another incredible achievement came from Noa Vaughan of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, who secured 3rd place in the Men’s Endurance Race - a highly competitive event with over 80 top-level athletes, including previous UK level competition winners.

Cardiff and Vale College’s Pan Disability Football Team finishing in a strong 4th place.

The Wales Regional Team in the Men’s Endurance Race also achieving 4th place, highlighting the strength of Welsh collaboration.
