Education 5.0 - The Future of Further Education in Wales

ColegauCymru is delighted to announce the return of our Annual Conference which will take place on 24 October at Cardiff City Stadium, with a conference dinner the evening before at Hilton Hotel, Cardiff.

** REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN **

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME

The Conference Dinner, sponsored by Agored Cymru, will hear from Jason Mohammad, who will share reflections on his journey from college to his glittering media career.

The Conference, sponsored by City & Guilds, promises to bring together 200 key stakeholders, educators and industry leaders, from across Wales and beyond to demonstrate the value of further education and share thinking on the challenges ahead.

Conference Keynote Address
We are delighted that we will be joined by the Welsh Government Minister for Further and Higher Education Vikki Howells MS, Wales’ Chief Economist Dr Thomas Nicholls, and the Future Generations Commissioner Derek Walker.

The event will offer a time to reflect and network, and crucially look to the future together, as we embrace the transformational changes ahead in the way post-16 education is governed and delivered in Wales. The Conference will also provide an opportunity for delegates to consider what Wales needs from colleges in the future, and how we can collectively address the changing skills needs presented by global megatrends. ColegauCymru is committed to working with the Welsh Government and sector partners to deliver a stronger, greener and fairer Wales.

Workshops

The conference will host a range of workshop sessions to delve into more detail, with themes including:

  • VET Strategy - learning from international best practice
  • How to improve quality of learning in a tertiary model
  • The road to net zero
  • Social value - now and in the future
  • Apprenticeships fit for the future
  • Social partnership for the future
  • Active wellbeing and thriving environments
  • Welsh Medium in FE - thinking for the future
