Today, the Welsh Government has announced an additional £10million in-year allocation to support the further education sector this year.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive, David Hagendyk, said,

“We welcome today’s announcement from the Welsh Government. This year colleges in Wales have seen a significant increase in enrolments, and this funding will help to support all our learners, whatever their background. As well as delivering a high-quality learning experience, colleges also offer a range of learner support, including mental health and wellbeing, and assistance with travel costs. The additional funding this year will ensure that colleges are best placed to support all learners to achieve their potential. We urge the Welsh Government to continue to support the sector with a sustainable funding package, including in the Draft Budget next week. A strong college and apprenticeship sector is fundamental to delivering a stronger, greener, fairer Wales.”
