Gower College Swansea Chief Executive honoured in HM The King’s Birthday Honours List 2024 for services to education

Gower College Swansea Chief Executive, Mark Jones, has been honoured in The King’s Birthday Honours in recognition of his services to education.  

The King’s Birthday Honours 2024 marks the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the UK.  

Mark has been Chief Executive of Gower College Swansea since 2013, having previously been Chief Executive of Bridgend College. He also held the post of ColegauCymru Chair between 2013 and 2015. 

Mark is both a qualified teacher and a qualified chartered accountant and has a master's degree in educational management. Prior to specialising in education, Mark worked in both public practice and in industry. He has also held other senior management positions in both further and higher education institutions in Wales and England. 

As one of the largest further education colleges in Wales, Gower College Swansea plays a vital role in supporting people in their learning journeys and, in the process, helps to deliver a skilled workforce for the region. 

ColegauCymru Interim Chief Executive, Kelly Edwards, said,
