ColegauCymru and BFELG to progress anti-racist agenda in further education

ColegauCymru is pleased to have been awarded a project by Welsh Government to work with the Black Further Education Leadership Group (BFELG) to undertake initial scoping work to help inform delivery of the Race Equality Action Plan.

Working collaboratively, we’ll be engaging with our member colleges and key FE stakeholders to build a picture of the current situation across the FE sector. The project aims to understand a variety of issues including the data that currently exists, how a review of the FE curriculum could be undertaken, and how the BFELG 10 Point Plan and Diagnostic Toolkit can be implemented.

It is hoped that the initial scoping review will help prepare for a programme of equality research, analysis and development for further education, in support of the aims of the Welsh Government Race Equality Action Plan.

Executive Member of the Black FE Leadership Group Stella Mbubaegbu CBE said,

“We’re pleased to be working together with ColegauCymru and other stakeholders as we continue to make strides in progressing the Welsh Government Anti-Racist Wales agenda”.

ColegauCymru Chief Executive Iestyn Davies added,

“Following on from the success of our Autumn events, we’re encouraged by the Welsh Government commitment to this important area of work and look forward to bringing about real change.”
